substances, such as paints, solvents, batteries, electronic wastes, and used
oil..
The following provides information on nearby and convenient ways to dispose
of some common household items that contain hazardous materials:
· Styrofoam Peanuts -- The UPS Store, 4200
Wisconsin Ave NW (202-363-8044). Accepts Styrofoam packing peanuts for
reuse and recycling.
· Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) Bulbs, Rechargeable Batteries -- Ace
Hardware, 4500 Wisconsin Ave. NW, lower level (corner of River Road).
Free parking, with a validated ticket, in the garage beneath the complex; enter
from River Road.
· Electronics and Appliances, Including TVs (up to 32” Screen)-- Best Buy, 4500
Wisconsin Ave., NW, lower level (corner of Albemarle by the Tenleytown Metro).
Free garage parking with validation; enter from River Road. You
will be charged a small fee, of $35 for TVs, monitors, and laptops.

Totten Transfer/Recycling Station, 9400 John F. McCormack Drive, NE (about a
10-15 minute drive from McLean Gardens).
- The Transfer
Station is open for public drop-off of accepted items most Saturdays
from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and one Thursday per month.
